I believe in entertaining trickery. But, I also know that there are things common people don't understand that can perhaps come across as some sort of sorcery because they lack the understanding to properly categorize their experience. Magic in the most fantastical sense, breaking from the laws of physics and the bounds of reality, no. Fooling people or taking advantage of specialized skills and knowledge to mystify them, certainly.
Anything is possible. A person's imagination is a very powerful thing.

Define it.
Mental energy, Levitation, Telekynesis.(Spelling), mind reading, clairvoyance, or any other type of stuff, like charging stuff or similar types.
I believe in things we can't explain. Whether we can't explain them at all or just can't explain them yet is open to discussion. But keep in mind that thousands of years ago, fire was magic. The wind was magic. The flight of birds was magic. But we understand these things now; they've lost their mysticism and are just regular, everyday things. Like Forrest mentioned, if I had a projector, some smoke, a table, and someone waiting behind the scenes with a detonator, I could make it look like I tossed a fireball at the table and burnt it to ashes. Did I really do it? Of course not, that's impossible. But could I fool people into thinking I did? You bet.
I think that some people posses these enhanced awareness trates, shalll we say, but I don't think it is really a result of any extra- energy manipulation, other than maybe the sublte abilties to detect changes in electro magnetic frequencies, and such, which could leave one more open to interpreting things. like when you are very close to someone you are able to tell how they feel just by being around them and observing thier body langauge, tone of voice, composure, other things that someone else wouldn't be able to pick up on. I see an ESP person as someone who's just more addept at picking up on these things from other people and is more in tune, if you will, to natural phenomina to be able to effect thier feelings.
ugh, I just got that song stuck in my head. that blows.

I think magic is totalyl factual. However, not for the reasons others think it is. I don't believe in any of thise other-worldly crap. I think magic, real magic, is in creating mindsets so things will fall in your favor. There is something to be said for alligning certain energies as well, though.. but I think that is a little more secondary.
Certainly energies are real if not tangible, but in the end I believe it all comes from the individual. If you're in a certain mode you will manifest different energies in your life. And that's where it gets spurious, but that's also where it is true.
Magic is great.. i just wish I had the want of it.

i do believe in magic as simply science that hasn't been explained yet... considering thought is simply a series of tiny lightning bolts traveling from cell to cell how can you say that someone isn't more sensitive to those impulses and simply interpet them differently.
I have been reading about and studying metaphysics (philosophy minor) since I was about 13 and I can tell you with complete certainty that "magic" is all in your head (and the head of those around you.)
I do.
Yes. There is more to this world than we can ever explain or comprehend.
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" - Arthur C. Clarke
no, not really
I agree (and well said might I add). If you had asked me this question before I had gotten married, Id have laughed at you, but My wife has ESP. Ive seen her and her mother have entire conversations without saying a word (creepy as hell!). Is that magic? Probably not, but I can't explain it either. I know I saw my father sitting in his favorite chair in the house about 3 weeks after he died. I was full on awake and I KNOW that I SAW him. Is that magic? Depends on your point of view.. but I cant explain it. I think that throughout time, "man" has credited that which he cannot with one of two things :1. God (religion, miracles, etc..) and 2. Magic (possibly the same as number 1 ). I think in time, all things will be explainedOriginally Posted by skully
yes. i believe in a "magickal path", but really this is no way to explain it in the little time I have.
absolutely. i'm a "witch". (wiccan) my religion revolves around the belief that anything is possible, as long as you believe in it hard enough.
I believe in the power of the psychic synthetic spiritual generator , with one of those you can make anything work
Do I believe in real magic? No. But do I believe it can have an effect? Yes.
Why, you ask?
Belief in anything gives you confidence in it's success.
So that confidence rubs off on other people, and on your own attitudes,
and because of that, the thing you want to happen is more likely to happen.
That is what happens with magic and spells and meditation, etc...
It's the same reason many "self-help" seminars work for people.
If you believe it is working, it will.
Because your belief will rub off on other people.
Do I think you can cast a spell, summon a demon, and cause someone to die?
No.
But if they believed you did cast a spell on them, and they believed it,
it might stress them out a lot, and give them a heart attack.
Was it magic? Yes and no. Your magic may have killed them,
but it's not like the spell actually caused their heart to stop.
you can move mountains if you put your mind to it. anything is possible if you believe....(why do i feel like the godmother in cinderella??)

Side note: Is biased against mcdonalds after having worked there.* (Pardon Spelling.)*
McDonalds is the cud for the hopeless masses. It's bland vitamin deficient and tainted just enough to help ween those who deserve to eat there off of thier miserable existences. Of course I'd like fries with that, what the hell else am I going to do?
no i dont and i dont have a friend with big red shoes (ronald mcdonald).
but i do believe that people who practice magic have a confidence that allows them to create what they want to happen to happen.
if magic worked:
* prisons would be empty
* hunger would not be a problem
* the internet would be emptier than the prisons
* the airlines and popular media would all go broke.
people have an amazing faculty for self-deception; i've experienced this first-hand, hanging out with Wiccans. the rituals and morality are nice, but when the rent is due or when your car stops working or when drunken assholes start beating you like a dusty rug, you'll find that magic suddenly relegates itself to the realm of pure imagination.

I theorise that Magick works like energy in an alternate plane of existence exactly the same as this one. If you can focus hard enough and transfer enough energy form yourself you can make magick. however winning lottery tickets and a 18" pecker are exempt! no matter what all those emails in my inbox say!
I don't believe in magic as such, but I do believe in the power to bend someone else's mind so that they see and believe in what you wish them to see and believe in. A mixture of magic and politics.
I believe in what Nightingale said
yes i do believe....................very much
(insert really insensitive comment here)
I definitely believe in the supernatural, does that count as magic?
I believe the human mind and directed willpower are powerful things. I believe we do not understand everything in the world and to think we do is arrogance on a colossal scale.
That said I believe Magic works if you believe it does. You can call it psychological I guess.
But I also believe on and off in spiritual creatures and entities because of my own personal life experiences.
Having been part of the occult experience on and off for a few years and working with groups has deffinetly raised my eye brows and put me through intense moments of absolute belief balanced by cyncism and non belief.
So, guess the real thing i'm saying is...Im open to the idea of "magic" being possible.
